  • DESCRIPTION: This gorgeous antique panel is a wonderful display of hand painting that illustrates it’s time worn beauty in full detail. Originally part of an antique wedding bed from Madura, this teak panel is now a handsome piece of art, rich with a subdued vibrancy and a patina etched over time. Budding lotus flowers decorate  the panel within a backdrop of color, very much the style and tradition of Madurese architecture in Indonesia. The lotus flower is a special and powerful symbol throughout many cultures and an auspicious subject for artists. It’s treasured for producing the most exquisite of flowers, even when it’s roots are in the muddiest of waters – a positive reminder that we too can rise above life’s murkiness and thrive. Handsome carved detail decorates the mid portion of the panel adding a scrolled flourish to separate the painted panels. Handcrafted by Indonesian artisans @ mid 1960’s from solid teak wood. This large Madurese panel has a weathered organic patina and texture consistent with it’s age and history. Panel has been painstakingly hand cleaned to maintain it’s original found condition.
