- DESCRIPTION: This vintage tribal statue is an authentic reproduction of an ancestor figure from Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This handsome human figure is carved in the traditional style, in a sqatting posture and adorned with an ornamental hornbill headdress. Classic spiral motifs decorate the base. At almost two feet tall, this tribal statue is a wonderful piece of ethnic Sumbanese art. Hand carved by a village artisan in Sumba from one solid piece of wood – dark patina with a whitewashed finish. Organic character from the wood throughout.
