- DESCRIPTION: These old backstrap looms are wonderful artifacts and unique decorative accents for your home. They can be hung on the wall alone or as a group, making a one-of-a-kind display of utilitarian art for your home. Each loom was individually hand crafted from a solid piece of wood and vary according to the specifications of the weaver. These portable looms were/ are traditionally used in Bali and the outer islands of Indonesia to hand weave Ikat and other warp textiles. A backstrap loom is placed behind the back of the weaver and allows the weaver to use her body weight to tension the loom. Their intrinsic shape and design make them definite conversation pieces and some Modern organic style to any space. Natural texture and patina from age and wear. 1 solid piece of wood.
