This figure is referred to as “Hampatong,” the general name for Dayak wooden statues, which are carved to portray ancestors or other supernatural guardians. This vintage tribal statue was authentically hand carved by the Dayak people from solid Ironwood, a very dense hardwood native to the island of Borneo. It’s a unique piece of ethnic art. This Dayak Hampatong has been mounted on a metal stand for a polished display. Natural organic erosion and patina.
